Do you wake up tired, feeling anxious about all the things you need to do in your day? Are you having sleep problems, experiencing pain, weight gain or moods that go all over the place for no reason?
These are all symptoms of chronic stress and burnout. In fact, burnout affects everyone in three dimensions. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress according to the World Health Organisation. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place.

Burnout reduces productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may feel like you have nothing more to give. The negative effects of burnout spill over into every area of life—including your home, work, and social life. Burnout can also cause long-term changes to your body that make you vulnerable to illnesses like colds and flu.
You may be on the road to burnout if:
Most days are a struggle
Caring about your work or home life seems like a total waste of energy.
You’re exhausted all the time.
The majority of your day is spent on tasks you find either mind-numbingly dull or overwhelming.
You feel like nothing you do makes a difference or is appreciated.
Burnout is a chronic, symptomatic syndrome, with fatigue the most prominent symptom. While the causes and long-term drivers frequently lie in both the occupational setting and family overload, many of the symptoms, such as fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, gut disturbances, insomnia, muscle pains and headaches, may be addressed through targeted interventions, including nutritional support.

Thank you Liza for making the Navigating Burnout Program a reality. I have suffered from burnout for many years and I have looked for solutions in all manner of places. The holistic approach you have developed to support those wanting to recover from burnout is amazing. After taking the course I have gained new tools to support myself and reduce my feelings of overwhelm and fatigue. I look forward to continuing to utilise the tools and information provided from the course and I would recommend anyone who feels like this to take the opportunity to invest in themselves and improve their well-being.

I would like to say thank you for all the work you have put into this course, it is amazing. When I started I felt like it was another thing I had to do (even though I elected to do it!). But now I look forward to receiving the booklets, videos and the zoo sessionss. It is informative and empowering, Liza so thank you so much. It is truly worthwhile!

Liza has lived and experienced what it is liked to grow up in a family that has had its fair share of stress and traumas. Coming from a large, blended family it exposed her to a wealth of colourful personalities, behaviours and experiences that are not always helpful. She was a child carer for many years when her father was terminally ill and has navigated her way out of burnout in her recent years as she and her husband were part of the ever-growing sandwich generation. (Sandwich generation is when you are raising kids, caring for aging parents while working at the same time)
